Train the mind. Grow the game.

Brain Boots Ball supports young athletes with sport psychology, mental skills, confidence, and resilience. My work helps players feel stronger, calmer, and more prepared in sport and in life.

About Me-

My name is Amelia Gage and I am a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SePiT), training with the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences. I studied Psychology at the University of the West of England, then went straight onto complete my Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology which I graduated in November 2025.

I have experienced severe anxiety since my early teens, and I found Sport and Exercise to be a vital part of my journey into regaining my confidence. Through my own journey, I have first hand experience working with professionals to better my mental well-being. Combined with my academic experience, this motivated me to seek a career in Sport Psychology, to give back to others and support them to be the best version of themselves.

Growth is not just physical

My Career-

I currently work with Bristol Rovers Football Academy, with male footballers aged 9-18 years old, and Bristol Rovers Women's Football Club, with adult female footballers. My work with the focuses on group based workshops, teaching players how to foster resilience within their training, decrease performance anxiety, normalise errors, increase confidence and regulate their emotions on and off the pitch. As well as educating players on these psychological skills, I help them to understand how they can bring these skills into competition.

I am also the Head Coach at BabyBallers. This role sees me working with children aged 16 months to 5 years, teaching basic development skills such a coordination, movement, balance, and strength. The sessions are lots of fun, encouraging teamwork and friendship in young children. Our aim is to help toddlers learn through play, to prepare for school and beyond.

Alongside my work in sport, I also work as a Teaching Assistant in Primary Schools, working with SEND and Neurodivergent children.

Testimonials:

Byron Anthony- Ex Professional Footballer and Bristol Rovers Academy Lead for 2025/26 season

'I first came across Amelia following her approach to me on LinkedIn. We arranged to meet and I must admit, I was impressed by her eagerness and willingness to come into the environment and offer psychology support, as well as being a passionate [Bristol Rovers fan].

Since our first meeting Amelia has been a huge help to design, develop and deliver psychology workshops across the academy from age groups under 9 to under 18. Amelia has shown that she can work well in a team environment as well as on her own, the feedback from players, staff and parents has been positive and we look forward to continuing our journey together.
